Idiosyncracies are what make us real people. By letting other people know these little things, we open ourselves up to them. The irony is that while these little things taken out of context can make us seem "strange"-er than the mysterious person we know less about, we become less of a stranger when we let these things be known about ourselves.
A very creative friend popped this idea into my head and since I have times in my day when I don't know what to do and have an energy to use, I thought I'd try this creative approach. I like the smell of skunk. Not the overpowering ones, but the sticky sweet and slightly pungent, week old roadkill. I know I'm in the minority with this one. I'm sometimes a little disappointed when the death toll on natural disasters is so low- this is horrible that I think this way- must be my early fascination with the book of lists and guiness book. On the other hand, China's recent, tragic quake, the Indonesian tsunami years ago, and malaria death tolls cause me pain. I've always loved to try new combinations of foods, like alfalfa sprout and apple butter sandwiches, peach and tuna spaghetti, and Miracle Whip, peanut butter, and pickle sandwiches. (Not weird at all for someone who likes skunk, right?)
I hope that by becoming less of a stranger to you the readers I will not make myself appear too strange, although I am not afraid of that, I have always reveled in being seen as odd, or apart from the norm- I still have a need to fit in and find my place like everyone else. Thank you for listening.
